On 17 February 2025, Grasslanz Technology sent its submission on the Gene Technology Bill for consideration by Parliament’s Health Select Committee.
Grasslanz is in principle supportive of the Bill which seeks to “establish a new regulatory regime for gene technology and GMOs”.
The opportunity to create a more enabling and modern regulatory system, that matches the system used successfully in Australia over a number of years, is an exciting one for New Zealand’s science and agriculture communities.
